Soludo Sworn in for Second Term as Anambra Governor

Professor Charles Soludo has been sworn in for a second term as governor of Anambra State. The inauguration took place on Tuesday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where he took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku and several state governors.

Soludo was declared the winner of the November 8, 2025, governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission after securing 422,664 votes. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, polled 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes.

The electoral commission said 16 candidates contested the poll, with 595,298 votes cast out of 598,229 accredited voters. Soludo won in all 21 local government areas of the state.
