South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has unveiled a new, more flexible visa regime for Nigerian tourists and business travellers, signaling a boost in bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The announcement, made on December 3, 2024, was conveyed through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Information and Strategy. Â
The revised visa rules were introduced at the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission, held in Cape Town. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu attended the session, which highlighted the growing partnership between Africa’s two largest economies.

The changes are expected to foster stronger economic ties and ease the movement of people between the countries.
