South African rapper Nasty C has spoken about his past struggles with alcohol, describing how he once drank daily in studios, restaurants, and during performances before deciding to quit. The 28-year-old said his heavy intake became a routine and admitted that his unusually high tolerance for alcohol made it difficult to recognise when it was becoming harmful.

In a recent interview with British-Nigerian presenter Madame Joyce, Nasty C explained that his decision to stop was driven by concerns about his health and appearance. He pointed to a widely held belief in South Africa that excessive drinking accelerates ageing.
The award-winning artist, known for hits such as ‘Send Me Away’, said he no longer wanted to risk developing what is commonly called a ‘phuza face’ – a condition where frequent drinkers appear years older than their true age.
