South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol has been banned from foreign travel amid a deepening leadership crisis and mounting calls for his resignation following a failed attempt to impose martial law. Oh Dong-woon, head of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, confirmed on Monday that he had ordered the travel ban, a decision executed by the Ministry of Justice.
The travel ban comes after Yoon’s ruling People Power Party (PPP) staged a walkout during a parliamentary vote to impeach the president on Saturday. The motion failed, leading to accusations that the party acted as “accomplices to insurrection.”

On Sunday, PPP leader Han Dong-hoon announced that Yoon would be excluded from both foreign and domestic state affairs. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has since taken charge of managing government affairs, further escalating the constitutional crisis gripping Asia’s fourth-largest economy.
The decision to delegate presidential authority to the prime minister has intensified political uncertainty, with critics arguing that Yoon’s continued tenure undermines stability.
