Senators from the South-South region have expressed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills, currently under consideration by the National Assembly.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Chairman of the South-South Senators’ Forum, Senator Seriake Dickson, emphasized the lawmakers’ dedication to a thorough review of the proposed legislation. He stated that their goal is to ensure the bills serve the nation’s broader interests while addressing the specific needs of the South-South region.

The legislative package includes four bills: the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill 2024, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill 2024, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill 2024, and the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024.

All four bills passed their second reading in the Senate on Thursday. They have now been referred to the Senate Committee on Finance, chaired by Senator Sani Musa, for further scrutiny, including a public hearing to gather input from stakeholders.
