Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, has urged the Super Eagles to sustain the energy and attacking flair shown in their 4–0 victory over Benin as they prepare for the World Cup playoff against Gabon.
The win, powered by Victor Osimhen’s hat-trick and Frank Onyeka’s late strike, secured Nigeria a place as the fourth-best second-ranked team in the qualifiers.

Mr. Dikko said the Federal Government and the Nigeria Football Federation are working closely to keep the players focused and motivated, describing the campaign as a national assignment. He added that maintaining team spirit and mindset would be key to progressing.
He likened the remaining matches to cup finals, stressing that Nigeria must carry the same determination into every playoff round to keep their 2026 World Cup hopes alive.
