The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has told politicians in Nigeria to stop weaponising insecurity against their opposition in office.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association on Sunday, she said the weaponisation of security for political purposes by political actors has partly led the country to the situation it finds itself in now.

The former finance minister, who delivered a keynote address titled ‘A Social Contract For Nigeria’s Future’, also said those responsible for stopping crude oil theft no longer have excuses as there are enough technological innovations to track the criminal act and bring those responsible to justice.
