Police in Ebonyi State have arrested three suspects after a student was shot during a Students’ Union Government election at Ebonyi State University. The incident occurred as results were being announced in Abakaliki.
The suspects allegedly fired a gunshot to disperse the crowd, with the bullet striking a student who was rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu said a locally made pistol was recovered at the scene. He added that the swift response of officers led to the immediate arrest of the suspects.
The suspects are currently in custody and, according to the police, will be arraigned once investigations are concluded.
