Nigeria’s Tyronne Ebuehi made a long-awaited return to action as Empoli played out a goalless draw with Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.
The right-back, sidelined since March 2024 with an ACL injury, was introduced in the 65th minute—his first appearance in over a year. He helped Empoli record their first clean sheet in the league since November.

Ebuehi, who sustained the injury ahead of Nigeria’s March friendlies against Ghana and Mali, said he was pleased to be back and ready to help the team after a challenging period.
He acknowledged Empoli’s missed chances but praised the squad’s unity and fighting spirit.
Empoli, currently 18th in the Serie A standings, sit two points from safety with seven games left to secure survival.
