Super Eagles thrash Mozambique 4-0 to reach AFCON quarter-finals

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a convincing 4-0 victory over Mozambique in their round of 16 match in Fes. Victor Osimhen scored twice, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams were also on target to seal Nigeria’s biggest knockout win at the tournament since 2010.

Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute after converting a cutback from Akor Adams, before turning provider five minutes later as his cross was finished by Osimhen from close range. Osimhen, who began the match without his protective face mask, restored it before scoring Nigeria’s second goal.

The Galatasaray striker added his second shortly after half-time, finishing a low cross from Lookman to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest. Akor Adams completed the rout with a powerful strike late on, capping a dominant display by a much-changed Nigerian side.
