Nigeria’s Super Falcons have returned home to a hero’s welcome after clinching their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 2:26 p.m. on a chartered flight from Morocco.
They were received by excited fans and top government officials, including the Ministers of Information, Culture and Tourism, and Women Affairs. The Falcons will parade the WAFCON trophy across Abuja in an open-top bus before heading to the Presidential Villa for a reception with President Bola Tinubu.

On Saturday, the team staged a dramatic comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final, solidifying their dominance in African women’s football with a perfect ten out of ten WAFCON final wins.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade led celebrations as the players disembarked from the aircraft, lifting the trophy high amid cheers. The victory has reignited conversations around better support and recognition for women’s football in Nigeria.
