The Adamawa State Government says eight people have died from suspected Buruli Ulcer in Malabu community, Fufore Local Government Area. Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame, described the development as deeply concerning.
He confirmed that samples have been collected from affected patients and sent to the National Reference Laboratory for further testing. Tangwame said surviving patients are receiving treatment at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola.

The Commissioner added that health officials are closely monitoring the community to prevent further spread. He said emergency response teams have been deployed, awareness campaigns launched, and medical supplies sent to the area.
Tangwame assured residents that the state government, working with the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organisation and other partners, is taking proactive steps to contain the outbreak. He urged residents to maintain good hygiene, avoid unsafe traditional remedies, and promptly report unusual skin ulcers or swellings.
