Tacha Slams Nigerian Youths Over Lack of Involvement in National Development

Reality TV personality Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has criticised Nigerian youths for what she described as their lack of involvement in the country’s key struggles. In a series of tweets on X, she accused her generation of being timid and unwilling to make sacrifices for national development.

Tacha drew comparisons with past generations, referencing former President Muhammadu Buhari’s early involvement in a military coup in his twenties. She argued that today’s youth are more preoccupied with emigrating abroad, creating content and seeking comfort than engaging in meaningful civic action.

In her words, “We’ve not just failed the next generation, we’ve buried it.” She acknowledged that while the older generation may share some blame, young Nigerians have largely turned away from national service and advocacy.

The former Big Brother Naija star clarified that her comments were not aimed at individuals but were intended to spark reflection on what she sees as a widespread unwillingness to prioritise national interests. She added that she continues to use her platform to speak out and push for change.
