Taiwan President Pledges to Defend Sovereignty After Chinese Military Drills

Taiwan has vowed to defend its sovereignty following new military drills conducted by China around the island. The drills were announced by China as part of its military activities in the region.

Taiwan’s government said the exercises threaten regional stability and increase tensions across the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said the island’s armed forces are on alert and prepared to respond.

China considers Taiwan part of its territory, a claim rejected by Taiwan. The dispute has remained a major flashpoint in East Asia.
