Taraba State Deputy Governor, Aminu Alkali, has resumed official duties after being away since November on medical grounds. A video has emerged showing him at his desk, working with aides.
The exact date of his return remains unclear. During his absence, the deputy chief of staff, Emmanuel Lawson, oversaw parts of his office, sparking speculation he was being positioned as a replacement. Governor Agbu Kefas later dismissed such claims, describing the move as a temporary administrative step to ensure continuity.

State officials had earlier confirmed that Alkali suffered a stroke, which affected his speech, leading to treatment first in Abuja and later in Cairo. The Commissioner for Information, Zainab Usman, said the deputy governor has made progress and urged residents to show empathy, stressing that illness is a human reality.
