The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, has addressed the recent announcement by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) regarding a proposed 50% tariff increase for telecoms operators in the country. Toriola confirmed that while the NCC has made this proposal, the implementation has not yet been approved by the regulator.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, Toriola clarified that MTN Nigeria had submitted a proposal to the NCC for the tariff increase, but it is still awaiting formal approval before the new rates can take effect.

The tariff hike, once approved, would apply to various telecom services across the country, potentially impacting millions of Nigerians who rely on mobile communication. However, the timing and conditions of the increase remain uncertain.
