Muhtar Bakare is Executive Director of Kachifo Ltd, a publishing company that has published bestselling contemporary Nigerian writers like Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Sefi Atta.

Its imprints include Farafina Books, Farafina Educational, Prestige Books, and Farafina Magazine. He previously worked in banking with Citibank Nigeria, and Trust Bank of Africa (now Sterling bank.) Muhtar has an architectural degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Osun state.
