Ten bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a collapsed building in the Jegede area of Olunloyo, Ibadan, Oyo State. The incident, which took place early Thursday morning, also left several people injured.
Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the collapse, stating that firefighters received a distress call around 2 a.m. and arrived to find many people trapped beneath the debris.
The Oyo State Police also confirmed the incident, assuring the public that security has been reinforced in the area to prevent looting and to safeguard residents.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the collapse, with officials working to establish what led to the tragic incident.
