The Global Sumud Flotilla has accused Israeli forces of illegally intercepting its vessels en route to Gaza, claiming military personnel boarded the ships and cut off communication systems. The group says it is working to confirm the safety of all those on board.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry released footage of a naval officer directing the flotilla to divert to Ashdod, where it said humanitarian cargo would be inspected before delivery to Gaza. In response, the flotilla’s steering committee insisted the mission was lawful and humanitarian, stressing it carried food, water filters, and medical supplies.

Committee member Thiago Avila accused Israel of obstructing aid and violating international law, citing a ruling by the International Court of Justice. He maintained that the flotilla rejects Israeli control over its mission, describing it as an attempt to hold an occupying power accountable for war crimes.
