TikTok removed more than two million videos from its platform in Nigeria between July and September 2024, according to its latest ‘Q3 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report’.
The social media platform also said that 99% of the videos were taken down within 24 hours, as part of a broader global initiative to uphold online safety standards.

In a statement on Tuesday, TikTok underscored that the removals were not isolated to Nigeria but formed part of a worldwide effort with local impact.
The report highlighted that the ‘majority of the removed content fell under ‘Sensitive and Mature Themes’, with ‘99.4% of takedowns occurring before any user reports’. Videos related to ‘Regulated Goods and Commercial Activities,’ also saw a significant crackdown, with 99.1% removed proactively.
