Former Bayelsa State Governor and ex-Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of violating due process after declaring him wanted over an alleged $14.85 million fraud.
In a statement by his media aide, Julius Bokoru, Mr Sylva condemned what he called the EFCC’s unprocedural and theatrical approach, alleging that no formal communication or investigation preceded the public declaration. The EFCC said it obtained an arrest warrant from a Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged diversion of funds meant for the Atlantic Refinery project.

Mr Sylva dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, describing them as part of a calculated attempt to tarnish his image, insisting the refinery project was legitimate and properly documented.
