Tinubu Approves ₦70 Billion for Solar Power in Tertiary Institutions

President Bola Tinubu has approved ₦70 billion for the Mini-Grid Solar Power Project under the 2025 TETFund intervention programme. The initiative aims to promote renewable energy solutions across Nigerian universities and colleges.

TETFund Board Chairman Aminu Bello Masari announced the approval at the Fund’s National Town Hall Meeting in Abuja, attended by education stakeholders. He said twelve institutions, including the Nigerian Army University, Biu; Northwest University, Kano; and Lagos State University, will benefit in the first phase. Masari added that the Fund continues to strengthen transparency and support research and staff training.
