The Federal Government has fulfilled its pledge to Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, following their 2025 AfroBasket victory in Côte d’Ivoire.
Players have received their national honour certificates and housing allocation documents while competing in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Lyon, France.
Each member was awarded the Order of the Niger, $100,000 in cash, and a flat in Abuja. Technical staff, led by head coach Rena Wakama, received $50,000 each.

D’Tigress claimed the AfroBasket title on 3 August 2025, defeating Mali 78–64 to secure their seventh continental championship and fifth consecutive win, extending a 29-game unbeaten streak since 2015.
