President Bola Tinubu has praised the National Assembly for what he described as its ‘decisive and patriotic’ approval of the state of emergency in Rivers State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the ratification was a crucial step towards restoring stability following a prolonged political crisis that disrupted governance and threatened national economic security for over 15 months.

He commended the legislature’s leadership for prioritising the security and welfare of Rivers State residents over partisan interests.
The emergency measures, set to last six months, are expected to empower the newly appointed Sole Administrator to restore order, address institutional breakdowns, and foster dialogue among opposing factions.
