Tinubu Moves to Negotiate Ekweremadu’s Return to Serve Sentence in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has dispatched a high-level delegation to London to discuss the case of former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, who has been serving a UK jail term since March 2023. The delegation, comprising Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, met with officials of the UK Ministry of Justice on Monday.

According to Tuggar’s spokesperson, the talks focused on the possibility of Senator Ekweremadu completing his sentence in Nigeria. The former lawmaker was convicted under the UK Modern Slavery Act for his role in an organ trafficking case involving his daughter’s proposed kidney transplant.
