Tinubu Orders Rescue of Remaining Niger Schoolchildren

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to redouble efforts to free the 115 students still held hostage after the mass abduction at St. Mary’s Private Catholic School, Papiri in Agwara LGA of Niger State. The instruction follows the recent safe release of 100 pupils from the original 315 abducted on November 21.

The freed children were received Monday evening at the Niger State Government House by State Governor Umar Bago and other officials.

Tinubu praised the security operatives for their “steadfast work” but stressed that no student or teacher should be left behind and ordered joint federal-state efforts to ensure all remaining captives are rescued promptly.

He also urged state governments and security agencies nationwide to enhance protection of schools and prevent further kidnappings, calling the abduction of children “an assault on our future.”
