Tinubu Promises Higher Allocations To Healthcare, Education

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, promised to re-invest savings from the now-discontinued petrol subsidy to raise budgetary allocations in the healthcare and education sectors.

The President, who was speaking at the second-term inauguration ceremony of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, in Owerri, said increased attention to these critical sectors would improve enablement for industrialisation and investments, in line with his vision to create an economically stable and prosperous country.

His assurances come over one month after he appealed to Nigerian health workers practising abroad to sacrifice their time to come back home and serve their people, promising massive investments and an increased allocation of funds to the sector in the 2024 budget.

Unveiling Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative on December 12, 2023, Tinubu described health as a fundamental human right and announced plans for a comprehensive revamp of physical infrastructure, equipment and the re-training of frontline health workers starting in 2024.
