President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the University of Maiduguri will now bear the name of the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari. The institution is to be known henceforth as Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri.
Speaking during a special Federal Executive Council session in Abuja, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to Buhari’s life and leadership, describing him as a man of austere honour, moral discipline, and deep patriotism. He acknowledged Buhari was not without flaws, but insisted his example of integrity and restraint in power remains worthy of emulation.

Reflecting on their political partnership and the 2015 democratic transition, Tinubu praised Buhari’s dignified leadership and refusal to yield to the excesses of high office.
The chamber fell silent as prayers were offered in his memory. Tributes have continued to pour in from across the country.
