President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Nigeria Police Training Institutions Establishment Bill, 2024, giving legal recognition to 48 police training centres across the country. The legislation, sponsored by Senator Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, aims to professionalise police education and strengthen internal security.
The new law formalises a five-tier training structure covering Police Colleges, Training and Tactical Schools, Technical Training Centres, and other specialised institutions spread across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
