President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Agricultural Development Fund, NADF, to oversee the rollout of 10,000 John Deere tractors across Nigeria, a move aimed at revolutionising the nation’s agricultural sector.
The initiative, which begins with an initial deployment of 2,000 tractors in the first half of 2025, is expected to reach its full scale over the next five years.

During the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with John Deere at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Abuja, Mohammed Ibrahim, the NADF’s Executive Secretary, confirmed that the first tranche of tractors will arrive at Lagos port ahead of the wet farming season.
To expedite the process, Ibrahim revealed that the NADF has partnered with the Nigerian Ports Authority, ensuring the smooth delivery and distribution of the equipment to farming communities nationwide.
