Transfer of power to Osinbajo, “Not Warranted” – Presidency

News - by RadioNow / Mar. 31st, 2021

The presidency has said that it is unnecessary to have powers of the president transferred to vice president Yemi Osinbajo as President Buhari departs the country for a medical trip to the United Kingdom.

In an interview with channels television, the spokesperson of the president, Garba Shehu said “the requirement of the law is that if the President is going to be absent in the country for 21 days and more, then that transmission is warranted. In this particular instance, it is not warranted”, adding that the president would continue carrying out his duties from wherever he is.

The president is expected back in the country in the second week of April.
