The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, dismissing all petitions challenging the outcome of the November 16, 2024 poll.
Sitting in Akure on Wednesday, the three-member panel, led by Justice Benson Ogubu, ruled that the petitions lacked merit. The tribunal struck out the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, who had alleged widespread irregularities and sought the nullification of the results.
Similar challenges from other parties—including the Social Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Allied Peoples’ Movement, and African Alliance —were also dismissed.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress candidate, secured victory across all 18 local government areas, polling 366,781 votes.
With the tribunal’s ruling, the governor’s mandate stands confirmed, effectively closing the legal chapter of the 2024 governorship contest in Ondo State.
