The Ebonyi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, against the election victory of Gov. Francis Nwifuru.
In a unanimous judgement, the three-member panel headed by Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, held that the petitioners failed to prove that Mr Nwifuru was still a member of the PDP when he ran for governor.

The petitioners had argued that Mr Nwifuru did not validly resign from the PDP before he was nominated as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
They had also told the tribunal that Mr Nwifuru’s election victory was characterised by corrupt practices, alleging that there was substantial non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
