Troops Arrest Eight Suspects Over Borno Mosque Bombing

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested eight suspects over their alleged involvement in a suicide bombing at a mosque in Gamborun Market, Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The attack, which occurred on December 24, 2025, involved an improvised explosive device detonated inside the mosque, killing at least five worshippers and injuring 35 others.

In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Sani Uba, said two of those arrested are believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network. He said the arrests were carried out during an operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the early hours of Monday.

According to the army, items recovered during a search of the suspects’ residence include cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards and jewellery, which are undergoing forensic analysis. Uba said a suspect already in custody identified the two principal suspects as those who supplied materials used to prepare the explosive device.
