Troops Arrest Suspected Gun-Runner in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected gunrunner in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State. The arrest was made during a raid at Shagada Village under Namnai Ward as part of Operation Lafiya Nakowa.

Army spokesperson, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, said the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Abdulmudallabi Audu, was found with an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and fifty-three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. He added that the suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response to intelligence reports that led to the arrest.

He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to sustaining operations across Taraba to rid the state of criminal activities and maintain peace. Brigadier General Uwa also urged residents to continue providing credible information to support the ongoing security efforts.
