Troops Foil Attack By Suspected IPOB Members In Imo

Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade, operating in the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army have foiled an attack by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).

The assailants had attempted an attack on the army’s Forward Operating Base at Ukwuorji, along the Owerri – Onitsha Expressway.

Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the attempt was carried out on the 20th of August but the men met their waterloo, when they came under the superior firepower of the vigilant troops. 

He also added that the troops neutralised one of the fighters, while 2 others were arrested, as others fled.
