Nineteen bandits were killed during a fierce gun battle with troops of Operation MESA in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State. The late-night operation, led by the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, also claimed the lives of two soldiers and a vigilante.
According to military sources, the encounter followed a tip-off about the movement of armed men around Ungwan Tudu, Tsamiya, and Goron Dutse. Troops swiftly engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat after intense fighting. Several motorcycles and mobile phones were recovered from the scene.

Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, Commander of 3 Brigade, reaffirmed the Army’s resolve to protect local communities from further raids. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies for prompt response.
