Iran says it is reviewing a United States proposal for a ceasefire but insists that no direct talks are taking place with Washington. This was disclosed by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, who said the proposal is being examined by authorities in Tehran while communication continues through intermediaries.
Araqchi stated that messages have been exchanged through what he described as friendly countries, but stressed that this does not amount to negotiations or formal dialogue. He said Iran has not engaged in direct discussions with the United States on ending the conflict.
In contrast, US President Donald Trump said Iranian leaders are eager to reach a deal to end the fighting. Speaking in Washington, Trump claimed that Tehran wants an agreement but is reluctant to publicly acknowledge it, suggesting internal pressures may be influencing Iran’s position.
