Trump Delays Planned Strikes on Iran’s Energy Infrastructure

US President Donald Trump has ordered a five-day delay on planned military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure following discussions with Tehran. The announcement was made on Monday via his Truth Social platform.

Trump said the United States and Iran had held what he described as “good and productive conversations” over the past two days aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East. He instructed the Department of War to postpone all strikes during the five-day period, subject to progress in ongoing talks.

The decision follows earlier warnings issued by Trump, giving Tehran 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route. Iranian authorities had threatened to close the Strait and target energy facilities in Israel and Gulf countries in response to US threats.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that any US action could lead to attacks on energy infrastructure supplying American bases, while its Defence Council said strikes on its southern coast could prompt the laying of sea mines that would disrupt Gulf shipping routes, according to state media.
