Trump Says US Could Exit Iran War in Two to Three Weeks

Trump Says No Deal with Iran Yet as War Continues to Threaten Oil Supply and Global Economy

President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States could end its military involvement in the war with Iran within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Speaking to reporters at the US White House on Tuesday, Trump said his country would be leaving “very soon”. He stated that a formal deal with Tehran was not a prerequisite for ending what the US calls Operation Epic Fury, saying Iran does not have to make a deal for the US to withdraw.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the sentiment, telling US media that there was potential for a meeting between both sides at some point and that the United States could see the finish line. Rubio added that while the end is not today or tomorrow, it is coming.

The remarks come as the conflict enters its fifth week and represent a shift in messaging from Washington, which had previously threatened to intensify operations if Iran did not accept a 15-point ceasefire framework.

Despite the optimistic timeline, attacks continued on both sides early on Wednesday. The prospect of a de-escalation has already had an impact on global markets, with Asian stocks and bonds rallying at the start of the session on hopes of an end to the war.
