Trump Slams Putin as Russia Launches Record Drone Attacks on Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him “absolutely crazy” following massive Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine over the weekend.

Trump, who once boasted of a good relationship with Putin, said on Sunday: “Something has happened to him.”

The comment came after Russia launched a record 355 drones and nine missiles at Ukraine in a single night. Ukraine’s air force confirmed it was the highest number of drones fired at once. Meanwhile, Russia said it intercepted 96 Ukrainian drones across 12 regions, including six over Moscow.

While Trump slammed Putin, he also took aim at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of “doing his country no favors by talking the way he does.” Zelensky hasn’t responded directly, but this morning he called for “real pressure” on Russia.

In response to Trump’s remarks, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the situation is “connected to an emotional overload of everyone involved,” and thanked the U.S. for its ongoing efforts toward negotiations with Ukraine.
