The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has expressed concern over the rising cost of living, calling on governments at all levels to increase workers’ allowances. The union said the measure would help ease the impact of inflation on workers across the country.
In a statement signed by its President, Festus Osifo, and General Secretary, Nuhu Toro, the TUC urged an urgent review of existing allowances as a temporary relief, pending the full implementation of a new National Minimum Wage in 2027 in line with labour laws.

The Congress also appealed to workers to remain united, pledging continued engagement with government and employers to push for worker friendly policies. It said Nigerian workers should not bear the burden of economic reforms without adequate protection and support.
