The Trade Union Congress, TUC, has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government, vowing to embark on industrial action should it fail to reverse the recent approval of a 50 percent increase in telecommunications tariffs.
TUC President, Festus Osifo, made the union’s position clear during an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk on Thursday. He described the proposed hike as both ill-timed and an act of economic oppression against Nigerians already grappling with financial hardship.Â

Following a meeting of its National Administrative Council earlier in the day, the TUC strongly condemned the policy, urging authorities to address the fundamental issues in the telecom sector. Osifo argued that the real challenge lies in foreign exchange management rather than imposing additional burdens on consumers.
The union has now put the government on notice, insisting that failure to reconsider the decision could lead to widespread industrial action.
