Gunmen have abducted two Catholic nuns along Ufuma road in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The victims, identified as Sisters Vincentia Nwankwo and Grace Okoli, were kidnapped on Tuesday while returning from a vocational association meeting in Ogboji community.
A statement from the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the nuns’ congregation, called for prayers for their safe release. Sister Nwankwo serves as the principal of Archbishop Charles Heerey Memorial Model Secondary School in Ufuma, while Sister Okoli teaches at Immaculata Girls Model Secondary School in Nnewi.

Anambra Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that efforts are underway to secure the safe return of the nuns. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, who visited the scene, stated that the police are working with available clues to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and efforts are focused on rescuing the nuns and bringing the criminals to justice.
