Two Dead in Explosion at Housing Project in Borno State

Two people have been killed following an explosion involving an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, at a housing estate under construction in Dalwa, Borno State.  

The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 1:00 pm. At the time, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and his Yobe State counterpart, Mai Mala Buni, were in Maiduguri to inaugurate separate housing projects in the state capital.

Dalwa, located 175 kilometres from Maiduguri, has been one of the communities severely impacted by the Boko Haram insurgency, with many residents displaced and homes destroyed.  

As part of reconstruction efforts, Governor Zulum initiated the construction of 200 housing units in the Dalwa community to aid resettlement and recovery in the area.
