Violence broke out at the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Ondo State on Wednesday. Clashes and gunshots left at least two people dead and several others injured. The exercise to elect ward executives was disrupted in Idanre by suspected political thugs.
Two people were killed, and Raphael Adetimehin, the younger brother of the state party chairman, was severely injured and is in a coma. Reports say attackers stormed the venue in multiple vehicles, targeting party members and officials.
The clashes were severe in some wards outside the state capital, including Iju/Ita Ogbolu. Security operatives led by the state Commissioner of Police and the NSCDC commandant restored order and dispersed the attackers.

Police confirmed five people were attacked and a vehicle set on fire. Investigations are ongoing, and party leaders urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to order a probe into the violence.
