At least two people have been killed after suspected Lakurawa terrorists attacked Durusar Gawo village in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The attackers targeted the Bureau de Change section of the local market, according to eyewitnesses.
Residents said the assailants stormed the community at about 2:50 pm on Thursday and opened fire. Two Bureau de Change operators, identified as Alhaji Ummaru and Alhaji Sani, were killed, while another man was shot during the attack.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers made away with a large sum of money, including Nigerien currency, as traders fled for safety. The same group is also reported to have raided the market and nearby villages last week, rustling an unspecified number of livestock.

Residents have expressed concern over worsening insecurity in the area, calling for improved security presence. The Sokoto State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
