Two people have died in a tanker fire at a filling station in the Orita Challenge area of Ibadan, Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State. The Oyo State Fire Services Agency confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, identifying the victims as a petrol tanker driver and his assistant.
The agency’s General Manager, Yemi Akinyinka, said firefighters were deployed immediately after receiving a distress call at 5:15 am. Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire started when the tanker, experiencing brake failure, lost control and spilled its content, igniting the blaze.Â

The remains of the victims have been handed over to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The fire has been fully extinguished, and further details are expected to be provided in due course.
