Two Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley

At least two people have been killed and 10 others injured following a series of Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. The Israeli army launched the attacks on Friday, targeting multiple Hezbollah sites near the border with Syria. The strikes are being described as a breach of the fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

The Israeli military claimed that its airstrikes hit “underground infrastructure” used by Hezbollah for developing weapons, as well as sites involved in smuggling weaponry into Lebanon. However, these claims were condemned by Hezbollah, with official Ibrahim Moussawi calling the attacks a “blatant violation” and “explicit aggression.”

Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed the casualties, with two people killed and 10 others wounded in the overnight assault. This latest escalation follows Israel’s refusal to meet a deadline for troop withdrawal from Lebanon, set under a ceasefire agreement that was supposed to be completed by January 26. The deadline has since been extended to February 18.
