Two people have died, and three others were injured following a tanker explosion on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday. The tanker, loaded with Premium Motor Spirit, burst into flames, causing panic among residents and motorists.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the casualty figure, adding that the fire destroyed 12 vehicles, eight tricycles, and one building. LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) also confirmed the incident, stating that the fire affected nearby structures, including a church, residential building, and mechanic shops. LASTMA warned motorists against attempting to navigate the area, describing such actions as extremely dangerous.
Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire Service, worked to contain the blaze while authorities cordoned off the road and advised motorists to use alternative routes.
